[eng] Science is a collective heritage that answers to the human need of knowing why things are the way they are. Therefore, as we better understand our environment, we will be able to give more precise, effective and human answers. Here lies the importance bringing scientific culture to our young people and start the necessary dialog between science, technology and society. Concretely, in this essay I show experiments that work on the concepts of mass, volume and density and their evolution in primary school. Mass is the quantity of matter that is in a body and volume is the amount of space that occupies. Density is the relationship between mass and volume. In the first cycle, students work on the observable physical properties, such as texture, volume, weight, mass and others, but not density. The make basic calculations. They acquire about the conservation of mass and they start working with weight. In the second cycle, students work the concepts with more precision, including density, and they work ok measuring procedures. They know about the conservation of matter, weight and the start with volume. It is important that these concepts are worked in a hands-on manner, and with everyday objects to which all students have access and that these objects are the center of their learning.
