[eng] Altruism is a social behavior hard to be measured, as it relies on personal preferences from individuals towards the rest of people included in society.
In this experiment we will simulate an investment game, in which participants will be economy or finance students and people with no relation to economics or finance.
The game we introduce will force players to reveal their preferences when selecting their insurance cover over a number of payments, with the objective of making them show their real altruism and trust preferences towards the subjects from the other collective against whom they play.
With the results of the experiment, we will explore if economist’s show different levels of trust against those who didn’t study economics and in the opposite way, those who didn’t study economics show different altruism towards them, later we will perform the same game but making the players play against their own collective. We will finally use a statistic for mean averages test to seek for the underlying relationship between our different results.
