[eng] The following paper is focused on improving the quality of life of children in primary school.
Good habits, including good nutrition, physical activity and control of emotions, are among
others important factors for self-knowledge and self-regulation. The early stages of life are
key to the child’s overall development at different levels: cognitive, sociocultural, motor,
physical and emotional. For this reason, it is crucial to work on health from the beginning and
from a global perspective to acquire good habits and maintain them throughout life.
The work has been carried out thanks to a bibliographic research through scientific articles
and institutional organizations at both a national and international level, such as the Spanish
Ministry of Health or Save the Children, which focus on the influence of good healthy habits
of children in the primary education stage. Its main objective is reversing sedentary lifestyles,
which is considered to be the predominant disease in the 21st century, and poor nutrition.
Thanks to this research and the search for evidence on the bad influence of sedentary
behaviours, a series of healthy habits have been outlined that will promote a better quality of
life in children at this stage, taking into account the Educational Curriculum of the Balearic
Islands (2014), which presents the area of Physical Education as the specific area aimed to
improve these habits, in addition to being able to work on them in a transversal way in all
curricular areas.
