[eng] In this paper we introduce the asientos linked to the military victuals and
hospitals provision throughout the 18th century in the insular context of Majorca, a place
conditioned by its productive limitations and its great dependence on imports. The most important
merchants of the island were linked to these contracts and adapted themselves to the changes that
took place at the State level. They struggled to enter the business of war, becoming a key axis for
the State agents, both for the wealth they generated through their economic activity, including the
repercussions on the treasure ark, and for their participation in the maintenance of the army that
resided in Majorca.
