| dc.description.abstract | [eng] Novel writer Juli Zeh, born in Bonn in 1974, critically analyses contemporary society and dissects the psychology and train of thought often associated to our epoch. The author evaluates the German trend to travel in search of adventure, although usually in a relatively safe setting. In the texts Nullzeit (2012) and Neujahr (2018), Zeh chooses the Canary Island Lanzarote as the scene where events and experiences of protagonists take place. The strange barren landscape of the island offers itself as a background for adventurous experiences, which shift from the outer to the inner landscapes. The search for adventure in the unknown and what can be behind it are the subjects of study in these two novels. | ca |
