Invisibles. Gent gran sense sostre a Mallorca

Abstract

[cat] Imatges i situacions que avui són quotidianes, pel que fa a les persones grans sense sostre, passen desapercebudes en qualsevol societat, i en la nostra també. Per aquest motiu, aquest treball pretén donar a conèixer la situació de la gent gran sense sostre a Mallorca. Trencar una situació d’exclusió social és tot un repte i un acte de valentia. L’objectiu principal d’aquesta recerca és identificar el nombre de persones grans que viu en aquests moments en situació de carrer, quins recursos hi ha a Mallorca dirigits a aquest col·lectiu i finalment, conèixer la trajectòria de les persones sense sostre. S’han utilitzat tècniques quantitatives, a l’hora de fer el recompte de persones i també tècniques qualitatives per tal de poder aprofundir en les experiències personals dels nostres protagonistes. Els resultats mostren un alt nombre de persones grans que sobreviuen als carrers de la nostra ciutat i llistes d’espera per entrar als diferents recursos que ja existeixen adreçats a aquestes persones. Des de l’educació social hem de treballar per aconseguir una societat inclusiva on totes les persones siguin partícips de forma equitativa en els diferents àmbits de la societat, respectant la diversitat, cobrint les necessitats bàsiques i garantint els drets humans de cada individu. Fer que el nombre de persones que viu en situació d’exclusió social disminueixi, dependrà de la implicació de les institucions públiques i de tota la societat. Des de l’empatia ens hem de posar a la pell de les persones sense sostre, comprendre les seves necessitats i demandes i d’aquesta manera conèixer el col·lectiu, mostrar-lo a la societat i no ignorar i fer que siguin invisibles.

[eng] Images and situations that nowadays are daily, about old homeless people, go unnoticed in our society. That's why this work aims to announce the situation about these people in Mallorca. To break off a situation of social exclusion is a difficult challenge and a big act of courage. The main aim of this research is identifying the number of old people that is actually living on the street, knowing what means we have in Mallorca for this type of people and investigating the trajectory of this collective. We have used quantitative techniques to do the people counting and qualitative techniques to deepen our people experiences. The results show us a big number of old people living on the streets of our city and long waiting lists for entering the different means we have for these people. From social education, we have to work to achieve an inclusive society where all the people can participate in all the different areas of society, respecting the diversity, covering basic needs and guaranteeing the human rights of each person. To make the number of people living in situation of social exclusion lower depends on the implication of the public institutions and society as a whole. From empathy, we have to imagine the life of these homeless people, understanding their needs and demands and, this way, know the collective, show it to society and not ignoring them and making them invisible.
