Teaching English from a multicultural perspective in Early Childhood Education

Abstract

[eng] In this Bachelor’s degree final dissertation, I talk about how to teach English, taking into account the multiculturality of Early Childhood Education classrooms. I begin by explaining the meaning of culture, multiculturality and interculturality. I then present different methodologies for teaching a foreign language such as Cooperative Learning and TPR (Total Physical Response). Taking into account the theoretical discussion I then present a didactic unit that fosters the learning of English culture and the learning of intercultural competence by dealing with different topics from a multicultural perspective.

[cat] En aquest treball final de grau, parlo sobre com ensenyar anglès, tenint en compte la multiculturalitat de les aules d'Educació Infantil. Començament explicant el significat de cultura, multiculturalitat i interculturalitat. Després presento diferents metodologies per a ensenyar un idioma estranger, com l'aprenentatge cooperatiu i TPR (resposta física total). Tenint en compte la fonamentació teòrica, presento una unitat didàctica que fomenta l'aprenentatge de la cultura anglesa i l'aprenentatge de la competència intercultural en tractar diferents temes des d'una perspectiva multicultural.
