[eng] Due to the high migration that has taken place over the last few years in Spain, we find a large number of students with a wide cultural variety to the educational centres. Therefore, the student body that coexists in the classrooms has different nationalities and because of this, they contribute with a variety of traditions inherited from their families. After this fact, teachers are even more encouraged to promote intercultural education. This type of education aims to transmit the values of tolerance and respect for all cultures. Promoting this exchange between the same in all the activities carried out at school, is essential and, above all, that there be a mutual cultural enrichment. Thereby, it is intended to avoid attitudes of racism and intolerance from an early age.
Through a small survey carried out in 11 nursery schools in Palma it is intended to study to what extent teachers are aware of the importance of educating in interculturality, what perspectives they have facing this concept, what strategies they use to make intercultural education possible, and therefore know if we are sufficiently trained in that aspect. |
