En este momento se lleva a cabo la iniciación de la lectoescritura como un recurso principal e indispensable para el desarrollo de los niños/as, ya que fomenta el vocabulario y la comunicación para saber convivir en sociedad. El cuento se caracteriza por ser un método muy útil para iniciar dicho aprendizaje, puesto que permite al niño crear habilidades motrices y cognitivas. Además, fomenta y acerca al niño al ámbito de la literatura, captando su atención y motivación, que facilita la adquisición de las competencias y capacidades básicas para el desarrollo de la lectoescritura.
